Charlie

I had forgotten about this day until I was searching through my photos. It was October, 2012 and the big girls were in school. We were going to go on a walk and Abby had run in to quickly grab something from the house. Charlie and Eleanna sneakily ran up on to Kris' front porch. They were holding hands when I interrupted to get a picture. Charlie kindly obliged being a good boy, but Eleanna wouldn't. She was so happy to just be with him and didn't want to take her eyes off of him. I love it because it conveys how Charlie's friends felt about him, young or old and always will. I will remember going on walks through Glencairn that summer that the big sisters where taking a watercolors class. At the beginning of our walk one morning I looked down to see two pudgy hands holding on tight to each other, keeping their strollers connected. How very lucky my little girl was to have such a loving first friend with the most tender, beautiful heart. Illustrations of little blond haired boys in books, she names Charlie. The prettiest blue light on the little Christmas tree still in her room is named Charlie. I think of the two of them hiding in the wicker clothes hamper at the top of the stairs on one of the last times Charlie came over to play and the sheer excitement and joy on their faces when we discovered them. We all love and remember how when they were younger he called her Ele-na-na. We miss you and will always dearly love you Charlie. xo
